Barbados At Its Finest

.

Lounge on the spectacular powder-soft, pink sand, caressed by the rays of the Caribbean sun and fanned by gentle Trade Winds, and you will understand why The Crane Resort is regarded by those that know us as one of the most beautiful places anywhere in the world.

Crane Beach Hotel is set in what has been called "the Most Beautiful Spot on Earth". Romantically secluded yet subtly sophisticated, Crane Beach Hotel is a place where time stands still; where sparkling days gliss into balmy nights; where wind and waves murmur to a calypso beat and where passing moments are etched in foam on the pastel shore. Its timeless elegance for which the resort is known is created in the hotel's many gracious touches. Canopied beds and antique furnishings garnish the suites. Mahogany shutters welcome the sea breeze and the lush foliage and historical artifacts decorate the reception areas. The Crane has earned the reputation of being "...the most dramatic resort in the Caribbean!", where it is set on "...one of the ten best beaches in the world!" Crane Beach Hotel was Barbados' first resort. Now, more than ever, it still is.

The Crane is a Caribbean fantasy come true. Situated right on the beach, you can relax in the balmy Caribbean sea breeze, enjoy breathtaking sunsets from your 24 foot balcony with small private pool, tan on the beach and cool off in one of our pools. The Crane is on the east side of Barbados.

The Crane in Barbados redefines the meaning of paradise. This luxurious beachfront estate is set on the famous Crane Beach, named "one of the 10 best beaches in the world" by Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. Lounge on the spectacular powder-soft, pink sand. Be caressed by the rays of the Caribbean sun and fanned by the gentle tradewinds-- you will understand why this resort is regarded by many as one of the most beautiful places anywhere.

Enjoy the many water activities that the Caribbean Sea has to offer, including snorkeling, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing, windsurfing, and parasailing. The resort has a beautiful outdoor pool overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. For the adventurer, explore both the Caribbean and Atlantic sides of this beautiful island.

The resort is situated on 40 acres and overlooks a half mile of ocean frontage, a mature coconut grove, and one of the most beautiful beaches of coral sand in the world. The captivating Roman pool perched on a cliff has been the backdrop for countless fashion magazine layouts. The panoramic restaurant enjoys a fantastic view of the beach and ocean and features live entertainment. The hotel also has a refreshment bar.

Private Residences

By marrying nineteenth century grandeur and furnishings with twenty-first century luxuries, conveniences and world-class amenities, Barbados' oldest vacation resort has created a level of exclusive resort living to be enjoyed by its guests.

With less than seven luxury guest residences planned per acre and ocean frontage spanning for a half-mile, the feeling of privacy and seclusion that has made The Crane world famous for over 115 years is assured.

Private residences at The Crane boast the finest in furniture and finishes, including hand-crafted Barbadian mahogany furniture, objets d'art, mahogany four-poster king size bed, spa shower with multiple shower heads, private Jacuzzi, oriental carpets, high-speed internet connections in both apartments, 3 cable TVs with DVD players and stereo systems.

Our residence also features the conveniences of a stainless steel fridge with in-door icemaker, barbecue grill top stove, dishwasher and private washer and dryer. The setting, however, provides the true feel of the property: old-world coral stone walls, hardwood floors, 10' high timber tray ceilings, central air-conditioning, floor-to-ceiling marble bathrooms, and an amazing 24' ocean view of The Crane's crystal clear, turquoise waters.

The photo gallery is very nice, too http://www.thecrane.com/crane_resort/photo_gallery/index.asp

This is our balcony pool with a "disappearing edge", overlooking the ocean and cliffs. We have one of the "Private Residences", the ground floor, 2 apartment (aka "lockoff". You can see more of our 2 apartments at http://www.thecrane.com/crane_resort/panorama_gallery/twoBedG_studioBedroom.asp

Excited yet?

Temperatures run from 84 to 88 F during the day and about 70 to 75 F at night. If it should rain - it will be over very quickly. The island isn't very hilly so clouds pass over very quickly.

Barbados has its own currency, which is tied to the US dollar. The exchange rate is pre-set at BDS $1.98 to the US dollar. They're pretty used to tourists now and take all kinds of credit cards, travellers checks, US money and so on.

The electricity is the same as the US - no converters necessary.

There are DVD players and VCRs there, so if you have favorite movies, bring them along.

If you want to look at some of the things that you can do while there, visit the sightseeing page. We're fond of the snorkeling/sailing, Safari rigged Land Rover Jeeps trips and so on, but there's lots to do there, including just lying out on a beach chair. Barbados has lots of neat things to see and do.

This map http://www.funbarbados.com/ourisland/maps/mainmap.html shows you pretty well where the Crane Beach is, and how it's related to the airport. This is the quiet side of the island, with most of the loud party-going folks on the opposite side, north of Bridgetown.

Barbados offers you the opportunity to relax and soak up the sun while being surrounded by tropical beauty and exquisite weather. Barbados, located in the Southeastern Caribbean, British West Indies, boasts unsurpassed beauty for those searching for truly tropical vacations. More than forty percent of visitors to Barbados are repeat visitors each year. Barbados is a charismatic island with a unique charm and warmth: with mile after mile of powdery white sand beaches; a delightful year-round climate of sunshine and sea breezes; acres of verdant, rolling sugar cane fields; exotic botanical gardens; and a rich and fascinating history–making Barbados vacations the envy of the Caribbean.

The reviewers say...

"It's like home, only better. Daily maid service, full-featured kitchens, and bathroom suites are designed to pamper, along with your own personal pool for your treasured private times. There's enough room to elegantly entertain if you wish...you only need to bring your clothes (and cash). Everything else is there at your disposal. To sample the island nightlife, your rental car puts you just a short drive from the many different activities the island can provide."

Timeshare experience

Heaven! This is the one word that sums up Crane Beach Residence. Despite the fact that our unit was a hotel unit, we still had plenty of space and our own balcony overlooked the sea. In our apartment, we had a huge wooden three-poster bed and you could look straight out of your bed onto the balcony. In the bathroom, there was a lovely spa bath and you could open the windows and look out there too.

There was nice big reception area and on your way to the restaurant, you walked through a garden area with brightly coloured parrots chirping away. All the surrounding area is lovely and you drive up a long path to get to the resort, but you feel totally safe and nicely secluded.

Best things about the resort
Lying on the beach, visiting the island, or sunbathing by the pool (which had the most amazing location perched on the top of the cliff overlooking Crane Beach). One of our other favourite experiences at the resort was the gospel choir on Sunday morning at the restaurant. What a pleasure it was to sit and enjoy your breakfast looking out onto the beach whilst listening to local gospel singers.

Best things near by
Crane Beach is on its own, quite remote from any other areas, so a car is an essential. We hired a mini Moke from the resort, which was very reasonably priced and was the perfect size for the two of us. By far the best thing nearby is Crane Beach. It is just a few steps down the cliff front to the beach and the view from the top is absolutely amazing. Crane Beach is named as one of the 10 best beaches in the world and it is easy to see why. It has white/pink sands, blue sea, and if you just walk along the beach for 10-15 minutes, you would think you were the only people on the beach. Perfect!

If you are feeling active and want to see the island, then Crane Beach is a perfect location to do it from because it’s quite central to everything and on reasonably good roads. The airport was only about a 10-minute drive away and we got a taxi to and from the resort -- the price was very reasonable and we even got a bit of local information whilst we drove.

Timeshare experience

This is an amazing resort with every amenity possible. The resort is away from any major area, so it is very quiet and peaceful. The new units feature full kitchens, hand carved mahogany furniture, bathrooms with marble whirlpool baths, and balconies with amazing views of the ocean. Some of the units available also have private pools on the balconies.
